Located on Broadway in Yankton many times I had seen this place and wanted to stop in. I had heard a ton of great reviews. I even heard some people say it was their favorite place to eat in Yankton.

A lot of times when I hear the words “sports bar” I get a bit nervous myself. Since I kinda envision a bar, that happens to sell food. So unless you need a drink or a beer, it may not be the first place you go to eat. These places can be a bit hit or miss. So when I had first heard all these great things, I was a bit dismissive. I’m glad I changed my mind.

When we first pulled up we seen a outside patio. It was a nice night, so as to be expected it was full of people. It looked very nice and I could see why they were out there. But we opted to sit inside anyways.

As you walk in, you’re greeted by two life size people in the first door. We actually thought they were real and that we were in their way. We weren’t though. Then into the second door where you wait to be seated. When we were there, the outside was full of people. But the inside was about half full. Being the case we were seated in a matter of a minute or two.

Inside was a big bar that was built into what looked like an island. And appeared to have a huge selection of liquor on hand. Looking at the menu, there was also a nice selection of beer and wine that they had on hand as well. However we were there to try the food.

The inside is nice, clean, and spacious. With plenty of room for people to sit. It was very surprisingly comfortable and quaint.  And I didn’t feel like I was just sitting in a sports bar. As a matter of fact, it felt more like I was sitting in a nice casual middle of the road restaurant that you could frequent often.

The hostess that seated us was wearing a mask to comply with covid. And it appeared that they spaced everyone out for social distancing. So they were taking things seriously. Regardless of your thoughts on masks, this showed me something right away. They cared what their customer’s thought.

It took less than three minutes for us to be greeted and get started with drinks.

That being said it was time to order. There was a very good selection of food on the menus. And had something for everyone. From simple appetizers to steak. There should be something that you can find on the menu.

But out of the corner of my eye I noticed some words. First best in Yankton, third best in the state. What was it? Hot wings! And a selection of different sauces to choose from. With either bone in or boneless. I was determined that those words were a challenge to me. Since hot wings are one of my favorite foods. But too many times they are blah at best. As well as an order of fries, I ordered one dozen buffalo style. My lovely assistant ordered one of their signature burgers the bourbon pub which came with fries.

While we waited we couldn’t help notice there was a dessert menu. With different cheesecakes from The Cheesecake Factory. As well as other items. I found a new mission before I even conquered the first one. Dessert had to be tried.

It took about 15 minutes to get our food. Not bad at all. And it smelled amazing. It was then I realized that I should have ordered one half dozen instead of a full dozen wings. It was a lot of food with an added order of fries that heaped the plate. But it was amazing. With wonderful flavor, and incredibly juicy. With plenty of amazing sauce. It was definitely worth it.

I also tried a bit of the burger. One of the reasons I shy away from burgers in some restaurants is because some places have a habit of over cooking it a ton. This definitely wasn’t the case here. The burger was super juicy and cooked with a perfect amount of season. It also didn’t look to disappoint in size.

Now this would have easily been enough to fill us up, we were determined to grab some of that cheesecake. We had the turtle cheesecake and once again, it didn’t disappoint.

The wait staff was very courteous and polite. And not once did my glass empty. Making it a great experience.

When she brought over the bill it was also a wonderful surprise. For under forty dollars, we had two soda drinks, two meals, and dessert. And completely worth the price. What more could you ask for?

In short, this will not be the last time I go here. There were a ton things on the menu to try. And I can’t wait to see what they do with ribs or a steak. I highly recommend it. And if you go, tell the mannequin’s hi for me.

Until next time.

Jeremy Bertrand. Your aunt shelly and I were there last week for lunch. I had a Reuben with rb fries and shelly had lamb chislic and onion rings. Delicious but I had to bring home half of my sandwich. Glad you enjoyed it too.
