There are quite a few people in southeast South Dakota that rely on Yankton to get their shopping needs taken care of. And they have a great assortment to do just that. From paint and wood. To groceries and gifts. Yankton has a great selection for a small town. It is also more local and laid back for people rather than going to some of the bigger cities. Such as Mitchell, Sioux Falls, and Sioux City. But are people really getting a piece of what Yankton has to offer?
On the other hand, if you find yourself visiting this area, are there unique places to be explored? Cool places to check out? Are there hidden Gems? Are there little local stores that are worth your time to check out and make a definite stop at when your in Yankton? The answer is yes.
I made it a mission one Saturday afternoon to do just that. Explore as many as I could. I wish I had more time. I know there are several more note worthy stores that I didn’t get to. And at some point I may do a part two in order to do this article more justice. However, here is a list of the stores that should be on everyone’s list that lives in or visits Yankton.
River City Relics
River City Relics is first on the list. Click here to see more info from their Facebook site. This store specializes in home decor and custom furniture. But there is way more to see. With some great jewelry and necklaces. And some dips and seasonings that would make a great gift. I can personally say they taste good to take home and eat yourself too.
Where they truly shine is their amazing hand finished furniture. These incredible pieces are a must see. All of which are one of a kind and new ones are added quite often.
They also have custom painting and refurbishing available as well. So if you have a piece of furniture you would like redone, they can do that as well.
The Lemonade Stand
This is a one of a kind store makes you feel at home. And wishing you had more room in your house. They also specialize in custom furniture and decor, but that’s where the similarities end. Click here to get a look from their website.
The amazing decor and pieces they have are a must have for just about anyone. I personally loved looking through the amazing sayings and creative works they had put together.
Then there are the wax melts and candles. A perfect gift. I loved the different smells and styles they had. I even bought a few for myself as well.
Dragonfly Consignments And Gifts
This is a great second hand store right on Broadway. Click here to see their website.
This store is very deceiving. From the front it looks very small and quaint. Then you get inside and realize it has a little bit of everything. And a ton of it. From clothes, to movies, music, and games. You could easily get lost looking through everything this store has to offer.
I loved looking through the numerous books they had. And picked a few for myself.
Badlands Sports Cards

At first glance by the name, the store seems to be just another sports card store. And they do. They have almost every sports card you could ever want. I myself picked up the last 2 seasons of complete Brown’s football cards. (Yes. I’m a Brown’s fan for real.) Their selection could keep a sports fan busy for hours.
They also specialize in game cards. Pokemon and Magic to start off. With a huge assortment to chose from. They are bound to have what you want and can get more. They also have books and pieces for DND as well.
Craizy Daizy’s Popcorn
OK. All this running around has to have you working up an appetite. Right? The next on the list is Craizy Daizy’s Popcorn. Click here to see their website.
For those that haven’t had their popcorn yet, you’re in for a treat. With all kinds of awesome flavors to chose from. The Strawberry Cheesecake flavor popcorn was amazing. And was my personal favorite.
They also have nuts and cotton candy as well. Also amazing to eat with a huge selection of flavors. If your like me, you’ll want to try them all.
Body Guard

They can provide you with any herbal medicine you need and have natural remedies for almost anything.
They also have a wide assortment of CBD oil. For the ones that are wanting to try it out for the first time. Or the ones that already know it’s benefits. They can help you out.
Another thing I was able to do when I went to all of these stores was spend under fifteen dollars at each one. I have heard it argued that small stores like these are very expensive. This is far from the case. And you can actually get some great deals at all of them.
More importantly though. The money you spend in these places stays in South Dakota. To friends, family and neighbors. All of these places had a very obvious passion for what they do. And with the things going on in the world, they very much need your support to continue to be a great option to the big chain stores. Along with the fact they have great products for great prices. So the next time your in the neighborhood make these places a must stop.
