When I first started this site, I really wasn’t sure what it looked like. I really had no clue what I wanted to do with it. All I knew for sure is that I love living in South Dakota. I loved growing up here. I love raising my kids here. I’m proud to say I’m from South Dakota.

Whats strange to me is how many people don’t follow the same thought. I hear in media and TV how South Dakota doesn’t matter. How South Dakota is a fly over state that nobody cares about. In the next election they already have this state accounted for. And they don’t care if we change red to blue or back because we don’t count enough.

A lot of times I see South Dakota portrayed as a stupid tourist trap that’s as boring as dirt. And the only good thing in South Dakota, is Mt. Rushmore.

I have seen South Dakotan’s described as a bunch of idiots. We don’t know anything and we need to just shut up and accept that we are idiot’s. Seeing this most recently in the media from a person that I did have a lot of respect for (and was even a fan of), shocked me.

I personally don’t think any of us are idiots, flyovers, or boring. Now I don’t feel I need to waste my time justifying how calling some one out shows their character not South Dakotan’s. I do however want to show the people that don’t know better.

Then there are the people who live in South Dakota that seem to think we would be better off not existing. This one has always puzzled me. My personal thoughts have been, if you don’t like something, change it. Right? If you hate the weather, move. There are no laws stopping you. If you think things are boring, figure out what you want. And find it. If you need more entertainment, find that too.

And that is were I have come into play. South Dakota has a ton of entertainment and exciting things to do. It’s really only limited by peoples imagination.

Why I do It?

Last year I got to see the Redlin Art Center. Stepping through and seeing Terry Redlin’s pictures was inspirational. His paintings were very bright and full of life. They are full of things going on in them. So I ask, where did these paintings take place? Where did he grow up and live? Maybe a better question. Do these things still exist?

Maybe quiet small town life isn’t your cup of tea. Maybe nature isn’t your thing. I can understand that. Every one is different right?

It can’t be stated enough, that South Dakota is loaded with entertainers of every kind. Comedians, live music, plays, hypnotists. You would be very hard pressed to find a time when something isn’t going on in any area. All you have to do is look.

If your looking for big acts, most areas of South Dakota have national bands and entertainment within a couple hour drive. It’s just a matter of looking and finding what you want.

It has been my goal to try to highlight these things. Restaurants, events, and great places to go. And bring the people, places and things that people want to see. Showcasing what South Dakota is truly about. Not some perceived notion of nothing to do or see.

I want to help rid people of South Dakota ignorance. And I want to ask for your help. I want to know what you want to hear about. I want to know your stories. If you have something you want to hear more about, please let me know. A restaurant you want me to try? A place that needs some explaining. An event that needs attention? Please let me know.

There is always something going on and things to see. So lets show the world.

Whats Coming?

Another thing I am working on is doing South Dakota spotlights. People are what make South Dakota great. And I want them all to get their attention.

I am also working on a YouTube site coming soon as well. This will have video footage of things going on in South Dakota as well as places to see that are note worthy. Please stay tuned.

This site is very new. And I’m by myself trying to bring together a lot of information for articles. I have been trying to put out an article bi-monthly. I am now gaining enough momentum, articles, and information that I am happy to announce that will be releasing an article once a week. Thank you to my supporters. And please subscribe to get the most recent articles. This can be done through Facebook or through excitersd.com. I am aware right now you can’t subscribe on your phone and I’m working on fixing this.

Leave your comments and suggestions for me. I love hearing from you. It will go a long way to what articles I write for the future. Feel free to share my articles as well. This helps me reach more people and spread the word about our great state.

To this I say, thank you. I can’t wait to hear from you soon.
